Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are two typical states of southern India characterized, as well as the rest of the country, by a large ethnic pluralism, religious, linguistic difference, which is still struggling to find a balanced integration. One of the most serious problems is the division into castes, where women are still considered in an inferior position compared to men, and children are the most vulnerable social groups. In this context the Passionate Sisters of St. Paul of the Cross and the Teresian Carmelite Sisters cooperate as follows:  the Passionate Sisters have been working with Seeds of Peace since the beginning of 2005 (to help populations affected by the tsunami of 26 December 2004) and in 2006 they started in the city Trichy  the construction of the “House of Hope” which was inaugurated on May 16th , 2009;  the Teresian Carmelite Sisters work with Seeds of Peace to ensure a better life to 15 children thanks to the Help Indian Children Association. Since 2009, moreover, Seeds of Peace has offered  a safe, hospitable and peaceful environment to 15 children and adolescents , in the Giordano’s House, a structure built by Alberto Cimarelli in memory of his son Jordan, an Italian man who passed away at the age of 31 .
